La Bella Figura: Barbary Fig Seed Oil, Barbary Fig Flower Hydrosol, Découverte Under Eye Repair Serum and Modern Radiance Concentrate Reviews

Every so often one encounters a brand that’s truly a cut above the rest. I’d heard only good things about U.S. based brand La Bella Figura (‘a beautiful figure’ in Italian), so my expectations were sky high. Victoria, the brand co-founder, handpicked the products below for my acne/pigmentation-prone skin. After using them for around two months, I’m truly impressed. La Bella Figura has become one of my favourite new-to-me brands. The products are meticulously formulated with a minimalist feel to them. Each ingredient is carefully chosen to serve a precise purpose and the products deliver. Without further ado, let’s discover the products!

Barbary Fig Seed Oil: Just as the one key ingredient in all African Botanics products is marula oil, and Kahina’s is argan oil, La Bella Figura showcases antioxidant-rich barbary fig (aka prickly pear) seed oil in all of their products. When I first saw this product, I was sceptical because I’m normally not a huge fan of one-ingredient oils (this is actually my first-ever review for an oil with just one ingredient!). Moreover, I’d tried barbary fig seed oils from other brands, and while I liked them, I wasn’t wowed.

Despite containing just the one ingredient, this oil feels like a complete skincare product. This Tunisian-sourced barbary fig seed oil has a rich olive-green hue and sinks into the skin like a dream. It has a unique buttery scent that I haven’t experienced in other barbary fig seed oils. I asked Victoria about it and she told me that it’s because their ‘quality and process of extraction is so different from what’s out there in the market.’

I love this oil, and I’ve been using it almost everyday since I received it. I find it excellent for my acne-prone skin, and it nourishes and hydrates without leaving an oily residue. I also use a few drops of it on my hair before I blow dry, and it makes it silky soft. For those of you who prefer oils with floral scents, they also produce a version infused with rare cactus flower oil called La Flora. They’d included a sample of this in my package, and it smells super-lush. I highly recommend both versions.

Barbary Fig Flower Hydrosol: One of their newest launches, this minimalist product contains just barbary fig flower distillate and orange blossom extract. It’s absolutely perfect as it has a subtle earthy-orange blossom scent that is refreshing without being overwhelming. It quenches the skin while balancing it and is suitable for all skin types. This pairs well with the Barbary Fig Seed Oil.

Découverte Under Eye Repair Serum: I’m often lazy when it comes to using eye product regularly, and I’ve only reviewed a handful of eye products on this blog because I don’t use them often enough. Additionally, most eye creams and serums irritate my ultra-sensitive eyes; either they make my eyes red and itchy or I get milia under my eyes. Surprisingly, this herbal-scented serum/oil, containing lypocene-rich tomato seed oil and anti-inflammatory blue tansy, doesn’t irritate my eyes at all!

The cooling metal roller ball makes this serum fun to use (it also helps with puffiness), and I’ve been using it both AM and PM since I received it. I am already noticing a reduction in dark circles and puffiness, and I love it. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a gentle eye product that works!

Modern Radiance Concentrate: Designed to be a complete Vitamin C treatment, this product contains Australian Kakadu plum cell extract, along with a long list of brightening ingredients. Kakadu plum is considered to be the richest source of complete Vitamin C, and being based in Australia, I’ve tried a number of products containing this ingredient (most notably, the Age Defiance Vital C Elixir from Mukti Organics).

La Bella Figura’s version feels super-luxe, and unlike most Vitamin C serums, it doesn’t tingle or irritate the skin. If anything, it feels like a soothing hydrating serum, and it has a soft scent that is reminiscent of other products from the line.

I’ve been using it during the day, and I notice a difference in pigmentation when I use it regularly. My absolute favourite Vitamin C serum is still African Botanics’ Nutritive Molecule Serum (which I just realised I’ve never reviewed on the blog! How did this happen?!), but the Modern Radiance Concentrate is now in my top five.

Like all the products I’ve tried from the line, it is elegantly formulated and makes a visible difference to the brightness and texture of my skin.

Final Thoughts: I’m absolutely in love with La Bella Figura. The products are thoughtfully created using the best natural ingredients. The white and silver packaging is ultra-luxe, and perfectly embodies the Italian La Bella Figura philosophy of creating a complete expression of beauty.

Fabulous review Arjun! These all sound so luxe and crafted with intention. The undereye serum sounds like it needs a place in my beauty cabinet!

The Modern Radiance Concentrate doesn’t tingle like other vitamin c serums, because it isn’t really a vitamin c serum. Their science on this is quite off and The Green Derm covered this on his blog several years ago. They ended up bullying him and posting homophobic comments which left a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths.
