What to buy from Mukti Organics: My Top 5 Picks

Mukti Organics just won multiple awards at this year’s Beauty Shortlist Awards, and I’m so honoured to have been a part of the judging process. I hadn’t tried any of the Australian brand’s offerings before they entered this year’s Awards, and I’m so glad I  got to discover the line via these entries. The first product I tested from the line was their bright green 2-in-1 Resurfacing Exfoliant. It was unlike anything I’d tried before, and it instantly caught my attention. The more products I tested, the more impressed I was with all things Mukti. The line uses a combination of potent natural extracts (many of them native Australian) and high-tech skincare actives. All Mukti products are formulated without any of the usual questionable ingredients, and unlike many natural brands where results are gradual, most of these products provide visibly better-looking skin (and hair) after the very first use. Since it’s impractical to review all of the 28 products I tested from the brand, here are my top 5 picks from Mukti Organics:

Clarity Balm: This is the only spot treatment I currently use. Super potent without being harsh or drying, it contains Kakadu plum, native pomegranate and mountain pepper berry to prevent and heal breakouts. I think of a thick, oily product when I think of the word ‘balm,’ but Clarity Balm is a light, water-based gel/lotion that absorbs almost instantly into the skin. It has a mild peppery citrus scent that I quite like.

Rose Blossom Hydrating Mist Toner: This ultra-fine mist has a fresh rose scent, and it leaves my skin soft, hydrated and refreshed (without overloading it). At A$52.95 for 100ml, it is super-affordable for the quality. In my opinion, it smells and works better than some mists that cost three times as much. Highly recommend.

Age Defiance Vital C Elixir: This, in my opinion, is one of the best Vitamin C products on the market. Unlike many other C products, it adopts a multipronged approach where it combines a highly stable and non-irritating form of Vitamin C (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate) with Kakadu plum, the richest natural source of Vitamin C on the planet. It also contains knotgrass extract, a botanical that targets thermal and infrared skin ageing ‘to protect the elastic fibres of the dermis from sun damage after repeated sun exposure.’ This serum is fantastic if you suffer from pigmentation, premature ageing or sunspots. This aloe-based product has a mild citrus scent.

2-in-1 Resurfacing Exfoliant: This exfoliant contains natural AHAs derived from native Australian botanicals, along with bamboo to exfoliate and jojoba ‘floraspheres’ to melt into the skin and nourish it. It rinses clean and has a very ‘green’ aroma that reminds me of crushed leaves. At A$69.95 for 200ml, it’s fantastic value for money.

Balancing Foaming Cleanser: A mild, gently foaming cleaner, this has been my go-to cleanser since I received it. Although it is recommended for combination/oily skin, it is gentle enough, in my opinion, to suit most skin types. Like many of the products above, it has a mild citrus scent.

Other Notable Mentions: Botanique Shampoo (amazing everyday shampoo), Botanique Conditioner (its unique grainy texture takes some getting used to, but it works exceptionally well for a natural conditioner), Tinted Moisturiser With Sunscreen (ultra-light natural sunscreen), Antioxidant Facial Oil Omega 3-6-9 (medium-weight oil that smells divine), Botanique Wash (face wash-quality body cleanser that cleanses well without stripping) and Deep Cleanse Antioxidant Masque (bright green, non-drying clay mask with jojoba spheres that melt into the skin to moisturise).
