Bed of Nails Acupressure Mat – Quick Review

Bed Nails

This was an impulse purchase for me, but I’m glad I bought it. My friend Alex was placing an order on Cult Beauty and asked me if I wanted anything, and I picked this. I’d been looking at this mat for a while, but I wasn’t sure I’d end up using it. But I’m glad to report that I’m using it a lot more than I thought I would!

What is it?

It’s an acupressure mat based on the ancient Indian practice of lying on a bed of nails for therapeutic benefits. The ‘nails’ in this case are made of durable plastic and there are 8,820 of them on each mat!

Impressions so far:

I’ve had this for about a month now. I was surprised by how sharp the nails were when I first got it, but my skin has got used to it. Seasoned users may be okay with direct skin contact, but I’d recommend wearing a thin top until you get used to the sensation of lying on thousands of sharp plastic spikes. I didn’t really think it did much in terms of relaxation/stress-relief the first couple of times I used it, but recently, when I was especially sore after a workout, this really helped. It’s not as good as getting an actual massage, but it’s probably the next best option. I now spend about 10 minutes on this in shavasana after every workout.

Suggestions?

I’d highly recommend buying the matching pillow, if you are thinking of buying this. I didn’t buy it, and I sort of regret it now. I feel like I need something to support my neck/head when I’m lying on the mat, and their half moon pillows look perfect for this.

Price and Purchase Info:

Cult Beauty – £50 for the mat and £30 for the pillow

Hey Arjun! I purchased a mat, from a different company and love it too! I was super surprised by how sharp the nails were too but have grown to love them 🙂 I got the pillow with my purchase and I agree, you should definelty pick up the pillow when you purchase the mat, you will not regret it! Great mini review. Tal xo

Hi Tal, thanks for stopping by and sharing your experience. Was it Prana Mat, by any chance? I was looking at those, as well! I’ll have to get myself a pillow now! 💚
